Uncovering Your Money Story

Week 1 of our Money Mastery Pilot.

It’s always exciting kicking off a new group! I love getting to know one another (ice breakers - cringe! ) and setting the stage for the transformation that will unfold over the next 12 weeks.

I'm excited for you to join us too!

I was nervous, excited, pumped up! My old friend Adrenaline was definitely working her magic.

Turns out I’m clunky on Zoom as I navigate this ‘new world’. I’m used to live, in-person events and I desperately want to showcase my meme library.

A good meme can brighten any day, right? Just me?! 🤷🏼‍♀️

MEME ON!

MEME ON!

FIRST UP: Your Money Story.

It’s the heart of your entire relationship with money.

Have you ever noticed patterns that play out in your life when it comes to money?

Maybe you always seem to spend as much as you make. Or when more money comes in, something happens and you lose it. Or maybe you spend money to ‘treat yourself’ and then feel guilty. Maybe you avoid looking at your bank accounts.

Your Money Story is made up of all the subconscious beliefs that you hold about money. Most of these come from childhood and from what our parents taught us about money.

Who learned some of these beliefs when they were younger? Money doesn’t grow on trees. You have to work hard for your money. We can’t afford it. Easy come, easy go? I’m not good with money. Money is evil.

Here are a few question prompts to get you thinking about your own Money Story.

  • What did your parents say about money when you were growing up?

  • When you think about money, what are the repeating thoughts that come up for you?

  • What is the average income of your 5 closest friends? Is it similar to yours?

  • What would be the negative consequences of you having the money you dream of?

Write these out! It’s most powerful when you take action.

You’ll hear this from me a lot:

What’s one action you can take this week to begin to uncover your Money Story?

Will you spend time journalling the prompts above?

Or interviewing your parents about their money story.

Or reflecting on the patterns that seem to repeat themselves in your life around money.

Next week: Uncovering your blindspots & limiting beliefs.

It's a juicy one!

with love, light & gratitude,

💚Kristen xx
